Privacy Notice.
This notice explains what personal information lockd.it collects, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the rights you have — including specific rights for California residents under the CCPA / CPRA.
Who we are
lockd.it ("we," "us," "our") is a digital signing platform operated from Los Angeles, California, USA for the luxury goods trade — watches, jewelry, gemstones, gold, art and similar items.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information: name, email, business name (when you sign in or apply for early access).
- Deal content: the item description, price, currency, counterparty information, terms, and signatures you create on lockd.it.
- Communications: waitlist applications, support requests, and any messages you send us.
Information collected automatically
- Usage: pages visited, actions taken, time spent, and similar product analytics, used to improve the service.
- Device: IP address, browser type, operating system, language, and approximate location derived from IP.
- Cookies and similar technologies: a small set of essential cookies used to keep you signed in. We do not run third-party advertising trackers. See our full Cookies Notice.
- Audit logs: for every signed agreement we record timestamps, IP addresses, and the chain of events (drafted → sent → signed → finalized) as part of the document's audit trail. This is essential to the legal validity of the signed PDF.
How we use information
- To provide the service: create accounts, generate signed PDFs, deliver receipts, send the link to your counterparty.
- To maintain audit trails on signed agreements (a legal requirement).
- To improve and secure the service, prevent abuse, and debug issues.
- To communicate with you about your account, service updates, and (with your consent) early-access news.
- To comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these limited cases:
- Your counterparty: the other party to a Deal Lock or Hold Lock necessarily sees the agreement content, your name, and your signature. That is the entire point of the service.
- Service providers: we use a small number of vendors to host the platform (cPanel/LAMP web hosting), authenticate users (Google OAuth), and — when payments are enabled — process payments (Stripe). These vendors only receive what is necessary to perform their function and are bound by their own contracts.
- Legal and safety: we may disclose information if we are required to by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, or property.
- Business transfers: if lockd.it is acquired or merged, your information may transfer to the successor entity.
Data retention
We retain account information while your account is active. Signed agreements and their audit trails are retained for at least seven (7) years after finalization for legal record-keeping and to ensure the document remains accessible to both parties — this is consistent with standard practice for binding contracts in the luxury goods trade. You may request deletion of your account; signed agreement records will continue to be retained as legally required, but identifying personal data outside the agreements themselves will be removed.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you live in California, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the California Privacy Rights Act:
- Right to know: what personal information we have about you, where we got it, and who we share it with.
- Right to delete: request that we delete personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to correct: request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing: see below.
- Right to limit use of sensitive information: we do not currently use sensitive personal information for purposes beyond providing the service.
- Right to non-discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
lockd.it does not sell personal information for money, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. There is therefore nothing to opt out of in those categories. If this changes, we will provide an opt-out link here and update this notice in advance.
Categories of personal information we have collected (last 12 months)
- Identifiers (name, email, IP address)
- Commercial information (the deals you have drafted or signed)
- Internet/electronic activity (usage data, audit-trail events)
- Geolocation (approximate, from IP)
Sources: directly from you, automatically from your device, and from authentication providers (e.g., Google) when you choose to sign in with them.
Children
lockd.it is intended for businesses and adults engaged in the trade. The service is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your information — TLS in transit, hashed credentials, restricted access to production systems. No method of electronic storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International users
lockd.it is operated from the United States. By using the service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States and may be subject to U.S. law.
Changes
We may update this notice. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you by email or in-product before the change takes effect.
